“That Thing in the Garden”

I went to Bath today to get some photos of my sculpture “Sweat and Tears” I made as a guest artist for the Art at the Edge public art project. The project aims to celebrate the Olympics whilst raising money from sales of work for causes that improve opportunities for disadvantaged young people.

I thought I’d take a short cut through a courtyard of  St.John’s hospital (the charity who have kindly agreed to display and promote my sculpture) , but I wasn’t sure where it would come out, so I hesitated in my tracks and an elderly lady with a plummy voice asked me if she could help me. “I’m looking for the Chandos Garden”, I said, and she replied ” Well there’s Chandos House” She looked at me and must have sussed me, perhaps noticing my camera, and then retorted “Oh you are looking for that thing in the garden!” …I laughed, “yes that’s right” I said “I am looking for that thing!”  Hmm, I don’t think she was terribly impressed!
