Death’s Head Moth, a playful take on the Death’s Head Hawk moth. I made three of these moths. This is the darkest one of the three!
I cast a plaster skull and gilded it in metal leaf, the wings are built out of wire and a cement mix and adorned in copper veined mosaic glass, stained glass and my own exclusive hand gilded glass.
Size 36cm wingspan and skull (not including antennae) is 12 cm top to bottom, depth is approx 9cm from wall.
Please note, great care must be taken when unwrapping this moth so as not to damage the metal leaf. The metal leaf cannot be varnished like the others as it will change the colour of the leaf.
