Mary Mary Quite Contrary Bird Baths
The last few weeks I have been making bird baths for the Bishops Palace English Country Garden Festival in Wells this weekend. Today was the first day but you still have a chance to come along tomorrow or Sunday! I thought how nice it would be to make some work based on a garden theme…
Flying through the Dark into the Light
In 2009 I was taken out of my comfort zone when making a mosaic for the Heavens above exhibition at the Opus Gallery in Exeter. I am used to working with warm bright colours and golds, but I decided to make a night sky mosaic using a lot of black. The swan wasn’t so bad…
The Somerset Illuminated Carnival
Every year in November the Somerset Illuminated Carnival takes to the streets delighting and surprising the crowds it draws from all walks of life. The floats are a cacophony of music, lights and theatre. The largest procession is in Bridgwater, and then smaller processions travel to different towns in Somerset. The processions are held in…
Mosaics in schools
I have been making mosaics with schools for 15 years, in fact the first ever mosaic I made was a 2 metre x 2metre mosaic on an outside wall of a school with the kids. Generally the mosaics are designed by the kids, I just facilitate the project, by putting their designs into a format,…
Flight of the Cranes

Wow! Hi is such a handsome guy! I love the final video. I had guessed his name to be Zion so was wrong! You must be so proud and sad to have him go.
Thanks Sam – yes sorry to see him go , but at least I have a bit more room in my workshed!
Thank you for dropping by my blog and letting me know about the video. I’ve always admired mosaics, but have never seen one made, so the video was fascinating and fun. As it played, I couldn’t help thinking it was like a great big 3D puzzle and then I noticed the name of the music! I think Zillion is going to have loads of admirers. If you don’t mind I’d like to put a link in my blog to your post with the video on it. Congrats on a fantastic looking Lion.
Thanks Cheryl
